Marianne Kvist

I am a woman in my fifties, a partner, a mother, a stepmom, and a psychiatric care specialist. I think that if I don't take care of myself, I won't be able to take care of my children, my spouse, and our family. After this, I may do quality work. A wise coach along my path once said that a therapist can only help as far as one has dealt with their own wounds. Let the mirror be my traveling companion and my eyes be accepting and gentle. One can learn something new every day

My approach to work is cognitive, to which I combine elements of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Sometimes it's good to dive a little deeper, to examine the attachment patterns and emotional locks that each of us has. How do they affect us today? Do we carry the wounds of childhood and adolescence with us into our relationships and families? How do we see ourselves, each other, and the world around us? What is important to us? What values guide our lives and how do they show in our actions, or do we act against our values?

My professional dream is to develop throughout my life as a therapist, trainer, and expert. I try to stay up to date by reading the latest research and implementing treatment models that work. I am currently working on the neuropsychiatric characteristics often associated with eating disorders, and how do they affect treatment? In addition, I am constantly interested in the treatment of traumas, how would we dare to trust a person's own abilities to regulate their own resources and progress at their own pace better? I have now devoured the training courses of the Trauma Therapy Center, including better treatment of attachment traumas and dissociative disorders, and I have graduated as an EMDR therapist. My next plan is to apply for training as a sensorimotor psychotherapist and to take physicality more effectively into account as part of psychotherapy.
