We don't grow up and live in soft cotton, but we are forced to get wounds and cracks in our soul, body, and mind. When wounds are open, they hurt all the time. When one tries to forget them, cover them up, others may not see them, but they are still there. Our wounds need care and attention. In order to heal them, they need to become visible. I believe that each of us is cracked. Instead of trying to hide them, we could bring them to light, as part of us and our history. Traumas that we carry and are ashamed of, that are part of our history, that didn't need to happen, which despite of that … did. Changes to memories of the kind that still hurt, but also of the kind that no longer influence our everyday life, relations, decisions, dreams, our self-image and our world.
The ancient Japanese way of repairing broken ceramic objects with gold paint does not try to cover them up, but to emphasize them. This form of art, called kintsugi, is related to the idea that accepting imperfection leads to enlightenment, beauty and peace.
What do I need,
for me to let go,
for me to feel safe,
for me to be free?
Säröjä is the name of the business that translates to cracks and under this Finnish name my services can be found. I am a cognitive psychotherapist (CBT therapist) and can provide Kela-reimbursable rehabilitation psychotherapy (Kela, Valvira), as individual psychotherapy for people aged 16-67 who are entitled to Kela rehabilitation psychotherapy. For people aged 16-25, the visits may also include parental guidance visits.
In addition to this, I can take self-paying clients for short-term therapy. More about rehabilitation psychotherapy, blended family counseling and Solmuja parisuhteessa couple counseling can be found in the Services section. You can find out more about me and my training under Marianne Kvist heading.
I am a full-time entrepreneur, but I have a work history in both the municipal and private sectors, in specialized nursing. I have a long work history in the substance abuse field, including treatment of mental health and substance abuse problems during pregnancy. Most recently, I have worked together with people suffering from an eating disorders. I try to find the function of the illness together with the client and get to the core that holds the illness.
Of the cognitive approaches, schema therapy, acceptance- and commitment therapy are closest to my heart. I am also familiar with DBT. However, the work starts from cooperation, so after the initial assessment, we choose the target and direction of the therapy together. I have also trained as an EMDR therapist.
Each of us is born into this world as a unique and perfect human being. However, none of us survive life's paths without scratches and wounds. And that is not the intention. The cracks in our souls are a part of us and accepting them is part of our strength. My purpose is to help you see, hear, recognize, feel and accept what you cannot change and change the things that make you feel bad.
